No-one to hug at night?

This is rather weirdly sad:

German designer Stefan Ulrich created a shape-changing object, not a pillow, using artificial muscle technology. The concept? To help relieve loneliness ...
It actually moves and simulates breathing. You can watch a video of how it works at the site, which is a little odd.

(And this photo gives a new meaning to "a lump on the couch".)

If you really want this to simulate someone sleeping beside you I have two options. For the ladies, they could have one that snores loudly in your ear and takes over the bed. For the guys, you could have one that has cold feet to place behind your knees, and that complains loudly about you snoring in it's ear... ;o)

Hi Dave,
:). I'm sure the snoring thing could be built in no problems at all. If it's anything like any other device involving electronics it probably just starts to rattle as it gets older anyhow. What I want to know is, is it warm? If it's warm I could be tempted - a large, cuddly hot-water bottle.

perhaps paint it with sideburns, put a top hat on it, some 18th century clothes and whammo! - a darcy doll. Perfect for the single or disillushioned woman.
